It sets strict safety, health, and environmental standards. By following the Act, businesses protect both their interests and the community. Compliance promotes fair market practices and industry stability. In turn, the petroleum sector thrives under clear and consistent regulations.

Amendment Act Requirements and License Restrictions

The Petroleum Products Amendment Act, 2003 (Act No 58, 2003) strengthens licensing requirements further. Section 2A (1)(d) of the Amendment Act prohibits any person from retailing prescribed petroleum products without a valid retail license. Additionally, Section 2A (1)(c) stops anyone from owning a retail site without a valid site license. These rules ensure that only qualified operators serve the market. They help maintain high industry standards and protect consumer interests.
